Evan Eating

He's so ready for a steak. If he catches you eating anything he jumps up and tries to grab it. At this restaurant we didn't have a snack for him. So Jo gave him a pickle.

Once he polished off most of the pickle, he turned his attention back to Mommy. Got Milk?

Evan Walking

Evan is hitting all kinds of milestones on this vacation. He pulls himself up on to furniture and then manages to shuffle sideways. Not yet a full-blown furniture walker, but he's on his way...

What's a Vacation?

After we settled in to the vacation rental condo Vivian wanted to know if we'd be back in Austin in time for dinner. I tried to explain: "Sweetheart - we are here on a vacation. We'll be here for a week". Which the led to the obvious question - "What is a vacation, Daddy?" (yes - she's so deprived).

I tried the usual. "It's a lot of fun". "Why?" she asked. "Because Mommy and Daddy don't have to go to work." That was met with the like-you-ever-go-to-work look from Vivian. I tried again "You don't have to go to school". Which elicited the and-why's-that-good look. Same with the "and there's no babysitter".

"Uh - we are all together" I continued lamely, well aware that the aren't-we-always look was just around the corner. I gave it one last desperate stab. "Because we are at the beach."

That was the winner. "Yeaaaa vacation!!" said Vivian.

Evan Crawling

He can laugh. Now he can crawl!

Today Evan took his first reliable and repeatable crawl steps. Set him down on his butt. Put something he wants just out of his reach. He'll lean forward and put his hands down. Then he'll pick up a knee and move it forward.

And then he'll splat face forward and roll over.
