Jo wanted to buy a blender that costs more than my first car and is only slightly smaller though it is a good bit uglier. She could have ordered it online but she wanted to ascertain the size and ugliness first hand and found out that it was available at Costco. So we went.
We should have turned around and left when we saw ourselves stuck in traffic to get in to the parking lot. But the blender sucked us in. Once we got there we found said blender and several other items in very large packages. Here's a photo of Jo examining the largest tent I've every seen hanging from the ceiling - and being friends with Greta I've seen a few large tents - her famous multi-room jobies.
On the way out we were stuck in traffic for a half hour. Which was not unusual. But there was something that was - this truck parked in the lot with a sticker that read "God Please Save Me From Your Followers".
The blender takes up half the counter space in the kitchen and can scare away intruders with it's good looks. But I hear it makes good smoothies.

Joy
Joy is back in our lives. Literally.
She was gone all spring to Atlanta but she starts nursing school in a few days and in back in Austin. She dropped by to visit the other afternoon. We have three sitters currently. They are all very good. But the other day Vivian asked when Joy would come back. We said, why - don't you like Emily, Dee and Sam? "Oh - I do" she replied "but I miss Joy".

Yesterday morning Jo was sitting by the window and I was eating breakfast. The kids were at school and Ms. Mary's. Jo pointed out the window and said "Hey - come over and take a look at this". This is what I saw. It's the season. You can't step out the door without seeing the animal kingdom getting it on. But doesn't the dude (I assume he's on top) just have the scuzziest look?
Dog Days
Though the dog days of summer won't official be here for another month it feels like we've been there for ever.
Last night Evan woke up at around 3:30am with every known excuse. He got out of bed and over and over again said "I'm scared", "I'm thirsty", "My nose is running", "I need to go potty", "I need a hug and kiss from Daddy", and on and on.
By this afternoon, after working out, grocery shopping, doing a spot of work, playing soccer, cooking my dad a couple of meals and getting Vivian from school I was done. At 4pm I lay down on the couch in the living room and watched Jo take the kids over to Amy's house and I closed my eyes.
At about 5:15 the clan returned. I was still on the couch and feeling rested. The lack of sleep from the night before and the heat was taking it's toll on the others. Evan kept repeating everything over and over. Jo banged the cabinet doors and clanged pots and pans loudly. Vivian got into trouble several times. Surprisingly we pulled it together for a nice dinner at home followed by popsicles.
Summer is here.
