In places where people have access to this sort of a thing, pediatricians are an intrinsic part of the parenting experience. Luckily for us so far, Vivian has kept that to the minimum. But still.
Vivian's first pediatricians were the ones we saw at Brack. Unless it's an emergency, run and don't look back. Which we did.
Our second one is Dr. H. We visited him when Vivian was a couple of days old. The doctor is in such a hurry his red tie looks blue. When I pay for services and get a list of things the doctor had done during that visit, it took me longer to read the list than the doctor spent with Vivian. And I read fast.
When you call for an appointment, it goes something like this: "Would you like the 8:16, 8:19, or 8:22 slot". OK - not that bad, but still disturbing.
There was one good thing about their love for speed. The nurse who had to poke Vivian 4 times for her 2-month shots is so quick that she's gone before Vivian even realizes that she had been poked (see this post for that story).
We think we should come out on our next visit with a high speed camera so we can film the action. And then watch it in slo-mo to catch the parts we missed. Like the Planet Earth show where they film a great white lunging out of the sea to snag a seal - 2 seconds of real time slowed to 46 seconds for us couch explorers.
Instead, we ask around for Pediatrician Number 3. Larry recommends a Dr. G. Today we go to see him. He is nice. He takes his time and hangs out with Vivian. He is a card-carrying Christian (from his website - no he didn't try to save me during the visit). I won't hold that against him. His staff is very nice. Maybe number 3 is a charm.
