Tomorrow, Vivian will be two weeks old. And we haven't returned her for a refund yet. Here are some random notes from the first two weeks.
The girl sleeps well. But we novice parents dutifully rouse her every 2-3 hours for a feeding. Sometimes she falls back into milk-induced coma after the feeding. Sometimes her eyes open very wide and she stays awake. There is no middle ground. She's either sound-asleep-and-cute-Vivian or wide-awake-on-caffeine-Vivian. And she doesn't have a clue about this day-night thing.
She passes air like a champ. From both ends. Nothing lady-like there. But her poop doesn't smell bad. Seriously.
She had to have sponge-baths till her umbilical cord dried up and fell off. Today was her first full bath. She loved it. Just floated around her little tub looking like a little Nero.
Vivian has a sixth sense about Jo getting ready to eat. She transforms from the sound-asleep-and-cute version to wide-awake-on-caffeine version in a second as Jo approaches the dining table. So Vivian ends up on laying on an organic Egyptian cotton blanket on the dining table between us. She sweetly watches us eat and sometimes farts in approval.
She is so spoilt. She'd rather sleep with us instead of by herself. So she does. I know we are setting up a bad habit and all that. And we'll have to wean her of it before she leaves for college. But she's so sweet and cuddly and we like to spoil her. Grandma started it (no - Grandma doesn't sleep with us, you perv).
Vivian is the noisiest sleeper I know. She snores like a male Chatterjee. She pants like Ely in the summer. And she squeals and grunts like a prize piglet at the county fair. All while she is sound asleep. The first night we were home, I told Jo that this is what it must be like to sleep in a barn.
