In it, a rabbi asks the author, an escaped congregant, to deliver his eulogy. The author gets to know the rabbi of his childhood over the course of the next 8 years. He also meets an ex-con Christian minister who runs a church with huge hole in it's roof while selflessly helping the homeless and less fortunate. The author ends up finding faith. The stated reason for this faith is "the profound comfort of believing in something bigger than yourself".
