On a lovely Sunday afternoon we said our (temporary) goodbyes to Alu and Michelle, borrowed their car and dropped Simran off at the Providence train station so she could head back to Boston and we drove off to a lake somewhere near Amherst. Cara and Eric had recently bought a lake house and they invited us to stay out there.
Leaving Providence, Jo and google maps picked a route that would surely have allowed me to lose a tail even if the KGB was following us. For the next two hours I was never on any road for more than a few minutes. We even passed a street called Podunk. Finally we got to the town nearest the lake - the town of Ware. And then the kids and I punned and rhymed about ware in a million ways till Jo rolled her eyes. Question: "What is just below the town of Ware?"
Under ware!! If you are around 5 year old boys, you know how funny the word "under ware" is. Almost up there with fart. Much mirth followed till we rolled up to the lake house on Beaver Lake. The kids are too young for beaver jokes :-)

It would be an understatement to say the kids had a good time. A couple of days later when it was time to go, Vivian and Evan asked how soon could we return and Jo wondered if we should seek ownership of a lake house in northern Massachusetts.
On the way out I dropped by Eric's dental practice to get my stitch removed. His tech put me in a dentists's chair and was starting to clip a bib around my neck when Eric hurriedly explained to her that the stitch was in my finger, not in my mouth!
