We are eating our way through New England. Sorry Jen.
The first photo is a group selfie with us and Simran and Alu and Michelle in Wakefield at a local Dunkin' Donut. Donut joints are at every corner and intersection. Rhode Islanders must eat more donuts per capita than any one else in the world. Them and visiting Texans.
In the photo above, Jo and the kids and I are at the Machu Picchu in Providence. After we dropped Simran off at the train station and we were heading out of town, Jo directed me to this hole in the wall in a not so great neighborhood. It was three-ish in the afternoon and the place was packed and there wasn't a gringo in sight. The food was great. Vivian ate most of my baby octopus stew - chowing down on the octopus while the tentacles trailed down from her chin. The yellow stuff you see us drinking is Inca Kola. Don't be a schmuck and order a Coke around here. Inca Kola, by the way, is pure sugar and caffeine but there are hints of bubble gum in the after taste.
In the photo below Evan is sucking down his Cookie Monster ice cream in a waffle cone at Flayvors - near the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst. He is staring out a window at some big Holstein cows with udders the size of Volkswagens. The contents of those udders were used to make that ice cream. Simple old fashioned farm to table.

And here Vivian is working on a lovely lemon meringue cupcake at The Sweet Spot - a nice little bakery and coffee shop in tiny Waitsfield, Vermont. We stopped and ate and wadded into the banks of the Mad River with half the town's people and then continued along the winding backroads bordering the beautiful Green Mountains.
And that's the kids at the Ben and Jerry's factory in Waterbury. This was the first B&J factory. We did the tour, got our samples an then bought and ate large quantities of ice cream from the storefront at the factory.
How much ice cream did we eat on this trip? Vivian would occasionally complain "Please no ice cream. Can we just eat some regular food?"
