Oscars

Sunday went by excruciatingly slowly. Because every ten seconds Vivian or Evan asked us if it was time for the Oscar Party.

Finally evening arrived. Evan was so juiced up he didn't take his nap. Jo and Vivian retired to the bathroom to do Vivian's hair for the party. Evan and I squabbled over a balloon. He cried. It didn't matter what I did it was always exactly the opposite of what he wanted and he bawled. Then Vivian appeared with her hair in waves and the dress that the Shah's had given her yesterday and even Evan stopped crying. We dashed over to Ava's in the freezing cold and the Oscar party was on.

Vivian had fixed the kid's drink (lemonade + Izzy) while Karen had concocted a vodka "signature cocktail". We sipped our drinks and nibbled at jalapeno poppers and delicious gluten-free lasagna and cookies and brownies. As we casually passed judgement on celebrity gowns.

I'm happy to report that Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep haven't aged in a decade. Not much has changed. Except may be Bill Murray and Harrison Ford don't look that sprightly. Awards for best Foreign Film and best Make Up Artist and best Short Animation Film rolled by while we chatted and Jo braided Karen's hair and Tulip farted wickedly smelly dog farts (or was it me?). And then it was time to dash back across the frigid yard and put the kids in bed and contemplate the passing of another week of our lives.
