Evan has often heard us tell him and Vivian that things can break or something is broken - often enough that if he sees a flashlight that doesn't work he says "fash-ite isa boken".
When Vivian rides her bike we frequently have to yell at her to apply her brakes. And sometimes she likes to sneak up behind us fast and skid to a squealing stop by braking hard. When either of these things happen, Evan yells "Vivi isa boken".
In his world if something is braking, it will soon be broken.
