There is this largish crepe myrtle tree outside school that Vivian climbs on when she has time. On Wednesday she climbed higher than ever before. Till recently most days she'd had time to climb the tree.
But now on Mondays and Tuesdays she goes after school to meet Mr. John, the first grade teacher at the other Magellan Campus, for Spanish tutoring. Vivian is in a small minority in her class where there is no Spanish at home and this is her first year of immersion. It apparently takes about six to eight months of immersion for a child to start speaking the language - which is the last step. Vivian reads and writes Spanish reasonably well (or at least above my level).
Mr John speaks in the calmest least hurried voice I've every heard. And
Vivian converses back with him in Spanish much to my surprise and
wonder.
That still gives us enough time to get to the monkey bars at Rosedale School park on the other days.
