Happy Birthday Ava

Last Saturday Vivian donned her princess dress and we drove to Book People for Ava's birthday. At some point while Jo and I were too busy trying to shove a few of Tim's home made chocolate chip cookies into our faces, Bonzo Crunch - the clown - showed up. He was very good at keeping the children seated and attentive. Till one more little girl showed up. Then Ava got up and gave her a hug and in 30 seconds there was a scrum of hugs - all the more adorable because it was so spontaneous. Even the hard nosed Bonzo gave up, took a seat, and let the hugs runs their course.

After the clown act, Bonzo invited the kids to ask him for custom made balloon toys. Ava had first dibs and she asked for a princess wand. When it was Evan's turn, he too asked for his own princess wand, and bless Bonzo's heart, he made him one out of red and white balloons. Vivian asked for a wiener dog and promptly named her Kirby and told us that she was going to take Kirby to Grandma's. Alas Kirby didn't last long and popped like a bag of microwave popcorn.

Vivian and Ava and Evan exchanged sufficient hugs and birthday wishes to fortify them till the next birthday and we drove back home with a bag full of goodies.
