As the Sacré-Cœur was in our backyard we decided to tackle that next morning. I explained to Vivian and Evan that "sachre" was sugar and "cure" was church and this was the sugar church because it looked like it was made from powdered sugar. Jo corrected me and Vivian agreed but Evan couldn't understand why they would call it sacred heart. He much rather preferred my version. Then we started climbing the back roads and cobble-stone alleys and they started complaining.
After much huffing and puffing we made it to the top. Then we decided to climb up to the dome. About 300 steps in two sets of spirals and a few random flights among the terraces and roofs. But well worth the view from the top. And the kids got their first look at Eiffel.
Jo looked around from up there and said that Paris reminded her of Hyderabad. Hmmm...
Then we climbed down and bought a few postcards from the souvenir shops and found a lovely cloistered garden towards the back of the church where the kids ran loose for a while in the unearthly green light of the fresh vines shoots hanging over their heads.
