A Helping Hand

Earlier this week I took the kids for their semiannual dental appointments. I handed over large sums of money for the hygienist to clean and floss their teeth. Vivian had her expander removed after months, and her braces redone. The cutest part of the afternoon was seeing Evan helping Vivian. At one point the dentist and tech were both in Vivian's mouth and she let out a yelp and a big tear rolled down her cheek. A few minutes later the dentist was done and Vivian looked at Evan who walked over and held her hand while the tech finished up working on her braces.

Later that evening Evan was being a complete tool at home and got in trouble with Jo. She threatened that if he didn't get his shit together she'd throw away the sticker that the dentist had given him earlier that day. At that point Vivian quietly left the room. When I walked into the kitchen a few minutes later, she was sitting on the floor, leaning her back on the cabinet door that has the trash can. "Just in case Mom wants to throw away Evan's sticker", she said.

Looking out for each other.
