Growing Numbers

In the three weeks in town between Nebraska and our trip to the east coast Vivian turned into a serious biker. She'd wake up in the morning and ride to Ramsey park with Evan and me huffing and puffing behind her. She'd beg to ride in the afternoon and I'd flat out refuse to sit outside in the hundred degree heat. And she'd sneak in at least one more ride in the evening.

On one of those evenings Jo and I were talking about how quickly she was growing up and how small she looked when we bought her the bike and that she'd soon outgrow it. As always Vivian was keeping her ears open and she chimed in: "Mommy - I'm growing big. Do you think people will think I am 15 now?"

Evan is doing his own share of growing up. During this trip one day we overheard a lady ask Evan how old he was. Without hesitating he said "Five". Then he added "...and a half".  I guess he's heard his sister tell people her age enough times.
