The Greatest Show

Vivian came back from school one day and talked non-stop about the circus. So I looked up and sure enough the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus was in town. We booked tickets for Saturday morning.

The kids loved it. Evan got really animated when the miniature ponies made their appearance. Vivian's favorite part was the human crossbow. They lit a performer on fire and shot him from a crossbow while circus girls in faux Balinese costumes clapped their hands and sang "Fire it up...".

Circuses have not changed that much since my childhood in Hyderabad. Jo and I weren't happy watching horses, elephants and tigers being made to do tricks to entertain us. It's time for circuses to let the animals go.
