But we've grown fond of the beaches of Rhode Island. Alu is about a 10 minute drive from East Matunuck State Park. We got there at 9:45am on a Monday morning and about half the parking lot and three quarters of the beach was full. There's a short pebbly patch close to the water line - otherwise it's a nice beach. Lots of clean sand and a gentle entry with good small breakers this morning. The kids enjoyed getting tossed around and Evan ran smack into a larger breaker and got his ears cleaned out.
By the time we left around noon-ish there was a line of cars about half a mile long waiting to get in. The east coasters take their beaches very seriously. Tomorrow we're going to try for an early start.
