School

Back at the school, the kids are getting some parental attention. Evan's class concluded a unit of inquiry about plants with an all natural spa day where Jo was a volunteer. They relaxed with cool cucumber slices on their eyes, got a hand scrub with coffee grounds, soaked their feet in warm water with salts, did yoga, and got massages. I asked Evan how it went later that evening.

"My hands feel nice and soft and I am very relaxed." Mission accomplished.

I was in Vivian's class three times in the last two weeks with experiments about the human body. Students recreated the action of the biceps and triceps at the elbow joint using string and levers, discussed the difference between our walking and the movement of a "robot", and made poop.

The poop part was obviously the most engaging. They mushed bread and water in a ziplock bag, added food colors, and then pushed it through a length of panty hose encased in a plastic bag till poop came out the other end while they pondered questions about farts, burps, vomiting and diarrhea. They may not remember what the duedeno does but they'll remember how caca is made.
