Evan's best friend from school's mother helped organize a day at Austin Zoo to raise funds for the Austin SPD Alliance. The zoo is slightly dilapidated. The animals are mostly rescues and have depressing back stories (Tim read most of them). It was hot. A huge Bengal was wading in a large water feature to try to cool off. Most of the other animals were more like Babe, the oversized Yorkshire - fast asleep.
Evan, Ava and Vivian had a blast. Face paintings, feeding the deer and goats, and snarfing down cookies. Safari Greg performed his animal / magic show. Every time he had a question for the kids, Vivian had the answer. Finally he asked Vivian to come do his show instead of him, and Vivian stood right up and started walking over to the podium.
