Back in the middle of December we ripped one corner of our house down. Earlier (when it finally started raining in Austin again) we had noticed a leak in the bathroom ceiling. As Gunaraj and I pulled the layers up we realized that there was a slow leak in the flat roof of the deck upstairs where the gazebo support had been screwed into the roof below. The 2x6 lumber that held that portion of the house together had completely disintegrated.
Gunaraj started the complex and long job of putting things in order. The rebuilding phase required almost every type of subcontractor because every layer of the house from the limestone masonry outside to the travertine tiles inside had been ripped out and then replaced.
Last week the steelwork company installed the railing. We are done. Wow. Wouldn't have made it without Gunaraj's skill and careful thought.
